School Notes:

  • This exciting residential institute is for high school students interested in pursuing an education in science, math or engineering who have completed their sophomore or junior years.
  • This is an opportunity to learn more about science and engineering, to sample life on a college campus and to meet other students with similar interests and academic ability.
  • The number of participants is kept small to allow for individualized attention and optimal use of equipment. We expect to accept 50 students into the program this year. When not in class, students enjoy planned activities on campus as well as free time for relaxation. Living, dining and learning together, students have ample opportunity to get to know each other well and develop lasting friendships.
  • Students will participate in hands-on labs. All accepted applicants will receive complete descriptions of labs and will select those in which they would like to participate.
  • The program is staffed by the distinguished faculty of the Alfred University College of Ceramics and School of Engineering.
