School Notes:

  • Idyllwild Arts is located on the western slopes of the San Jacinto Mountains in Southern California. The 205-acre campus nestled in the Strawberry Valley is rich with natural beauty. Pine, cedar and oak trees abound amid mountain meadows bursting with wildflowers in the summertime.
  • Idyllwild's existence, not to mention its spectacular location, is due to the vision of its founders, Dr. Max Krone and his wife Beatrice. Building on the heritage of its Summer Arts program, the Foundation in 1986 established the Idyllwild Arts Academy, the first independent boarding high school for the arts in the Western U.S.
  • California's Idyllwild Arts is the place where dreams take shape in music, dance, theatre, visual arts, filmaking, and creative writing through Idyllwild Arts Academy, a private arts high school, and the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program for artists of all ages.
  • The American Experience is a five-week unique study/travel program in which students receive English instruction for two hours each day, five days a week. Classes are small and teachers provide individualized attention. Courses are available for beginning, intermediate and advanced speakers. Students increase their reading, writing, and conversation skills while building their vocabulary and improving their pronunciation.
  • The American Experience also includes a week of off-campus sightseeing and cultural experiences. After four weeks of intensive English and arts courses, students are given the chance to practice their new skills while enjoying other parts of Southern California. Accompanied by their teachers, they travel by private van to fun-filled locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Exciting destinations include museums, movies, shopping malls and beaches. Also included are excursions to world-famous Disneyland and Universal Studios!
