School Notes:

  • The mission of Oak Ridge Military Academy is to provide an educational environment that stimulates intellectual curiosity, fosters scholarly competence, encourages academic excellence, rewards self-discipline, and develops leadership potential through student involvement in both the curricular and co-curricular educational process.
  • Oak Ridge Military Academy seeks students who possess average to above average ability, good character, and a desire to develop leadership skills. The Academy offers a challenging academic curriculum. The structured and disciplined approach to academics sets clear expectations, establishes goals, provides rewards, and teaches self-discipline. The military dimension of the Academy’s program seeks to reinforce every other aspect of the mission and to add a set of values that can be applied throughout life, including a work ethic, a sense of responsibility, integrity, and morality. It is our experience that young people work up to their potential when placed in our structured environment.
  • Oak Ridge Military Academy was the first school in North Carolina to receive accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Our exceptional 11:1 student/teacher ratio enables each student to reach their academic potential through superior leadership and direction. Small classes allow our teachers to assess a child’s progress in a subject and determine the most effective means of achieving academic success.
  • Students attend weekday classes ranging in length from four to six hours per day. Afternoon activities include leadership training and athletic activities dependent upon a student’s academic performance. In addition, each boarding student is required to attend a two-hour, adult-supervised, evening study hall designed to teach organizational skills and time management.
