School Notes:

  • Pratt prides itself in being set on a unique 25-acre green campus with century-old trees and cutting edge sculptures. Situated in the historic Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn, a quiet residential neighborhood of nineteenth century brownstones- the campus is close to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Fort Green Park, and Manhattan. The campus is open to the community, and the immediate neighborhood is home to many Pratt graduates, faculty, and staff.
  • Each summer, close to 400 high school students from across the country and around the world immerse themselves in art, design, architecture, creative writing, and cultural studies in Pratt’s intensive four-week college-level program. Pratt combines academic excellence with hands-on studio work.
  • The program also includes a lecture series and a cultural insights track (for resident students). The cultural insights track comprises weekend social and cultural activities such as plays, museums, gallery and studio visits. The lecture series is mandatory for all resident students and optional for Manhattan students. The cultural insights track is mandatory for Brooklyn resident students, and optional for commuters of both Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses.
  • Due to the intensive nature of the program, students’ schedules are filled with classes, lectures, and activities. Students should come prepared to immerse themselves in this challenging environment. More specifically, students take four mandatory courses: a foundation course (two credits), an elective of choice (two credits), an art history appreciation (non-credit) and a portfolio development course (non-credit).
