School Notes:

  • The Academy by the Sea's five week summer session offers a co-educational program that balances academics and recreation for a fulfilling experience. Designed especially for students entering grade 7 through exiting grade 10, the academic program helps students prepare for their upcoming school year and for the academic experiences that lie ahead in secondary education.
  • Students attending the academic session share a common desire to spend five weeks improving their study skills, strengthening their educational backgrounds, and having fun. The option of being a boarding or day student is offered, however, boarding is encouraged as the dormitory experience is an important part of a student's overall learning and enjoyment.
  • The Academy offers a variety of subjects from which students pick four classes that will comprise their summer schedules. For students whose learning style has caused academic difficulty, The Academy offers small class sizes for more individualized teacher attention and expanded classroom participation.
  • Students encounter a superb group of energetic and experienced teachers who are sensitive to their personal academic needs. Special events, afternoon activities and weekend excursions allow each student the opportunity to take a break from academic responsibilities and explore lasting friendships.
  • There are four academic periods each morning with classes meeting six days each week. Attention is given to addressing individual student needs. The development of study skills is a focal point throughout the academic program. A report of student progress is written by each teacher at the midpoint and the end of the session.
