- Wekeela is located in south central Maine, nestled among forests timbered since Colonial times and near the famed mountains and lakes for which Maine is known. Our camp covers more than 150 lush acres including an expansive waterfront on Little Bear Pond, a natural lake that connects directly to Big Bear Pond.
- Co-ed activities promote the benefits of group play and social interaction, both very important to the development of young people. Through much experience, Wekeela has blended the best program elements of all girls and all boys camps with the social and developmental advantages of co-ed camps. There are many other co-ed activities that encourage healthy fun such as: water sports, tennis, wilderness/outdoor adventure, creative arts and performing arts.
- One of the reasons parents send their children to Wekeela - aside from the friendships and social and emotional growth their children experience-- is to have them in an environment where there are standards and where there is supervision-in many cases, a level of supervision that exceeds what they know they themselves can provide at home.
- There's no two ways about it - our teen camp rocks!. We're talking cool kids, cool times. You may come here a rookie, but leave a pro with skills and experiences that last a lifetime. We're not talking about three or four activity periods a day. Count'em, six periods of action-packed fun and adventure every single day. Instruction in swimming, tennis and a team sport are required for ages six through twelve-but the rest is up to you. A day at Wekeela is always action packed!
